Sunday Skate Shoot at UP Diliman

Just did a quick shoot last Sunday with the awesome Momma Nikka at UP Diliman. I kind of realize that I suck as a sports photographer and would probably practice that in my later years (or never at all) but for now I'm all for lifestyle, editorial, documentary and street photography.

Why I love Collabs.

Collaborative work is one of the most rewarding things a photographer can ask. Why? Because not only you get to work with different people, you actually get to work with people who are talented and driven to push their craft to its limits. You also get to learn more about your craft and the stuff that will eventually aid you to get better for the next shoot. Other than learning new stuff you also get to help one another in build everyone's portfolio.

As of this writing Jelly and I have decided to do this thing monthly and we are currently planning for our next shoot in June which is about brides since June is a wedding month here in the Philippines

Before I show your our finished work I just want to thank: Jelly, Kristine, Magu, Oko and Gerome for being awesome at the shoot despite the humid weather.

Monday at Fred's with The Cam Worx

Last Monday I visited my buddies on their set in Fred's at Cubao X while they are working on their promo video for the upcoming wedding expo in TriNoma. Its good to see my old college buddies again and seeing them working hard. I was asked to shoot a clip or two but I politely declined since I just showed up there not know the shot list nor the big concept. I'd rather sit behind the scenes, chat with some of my buddies and watch the pros.


Just this morning I watch the video and I was amazed with the output, man I wish I can do something like this but as for now I'll be sticking with still images and improving my vision. A big congratulations to Jelly for the successful thesis defense! But before you guys go and check out the photos I would like to take the opportunity to thank her for inviting me to the shoot for her thesis because I was able to work with really really wonderful, awesome and gorgeous people, I had such a great time with them because there was no dull moment during the shoot (thank you Karla for your witty punch lines and I really think that you should write a book). 

I would definitely love to work with them again in the near future. Cheers to Cinth and to future photo shoots with you guys :)

On a completely unrelated note I haven't done my Christmas shopping yet and it really bothers me because all my nephews and nieces are kind of expecting gifts from me since I got a job so I am asking you guys if you have a wonderful gift idea for kids please do drop your suggestions in the comment box because it will definitely help me a lot.

Sunday Vignettes

Last Sunday I went out for a shoot with my friends (Jacky, Linelle, MC and Miguel) in Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife. We haven't seen each other for a long time and it was so great seeing them catching up as well as remembering the days when we are still back in high school. Now that I am thinking about the good old high school carefree days I'm sort of thinking doing a shoot in my high school building. 


I definitely want to do this again and maybe I will try and do something like a series of portraits of my classmates.


P.S. I tried out the stuff that Zack Arias was talking about in his Onelight Workshop DVD.

For Rejh

This post goes to my beautiful and awesome friend- Rejh, she will be going to California today and stay there.


We first met way back when I was in my 3rd year in college and I was to do a night shoot of the city at night for a plate so I asked my cousin Xy if I could stay in her flat for the night and as they always say the rest is history. She was one of the first person who went out for a photowalk with me and she was the first to be my model as I was learning the ropes of photography. We have been into countless adventures, we drunk a lot, ate a lot, got crazy a lot and shot photos a lot. She was one of the few people who made me feel that I was no stranger to her and those who knows her will also tell you that.


I will definitely miss her and the great times we spent. I will miss her so much because I will have one less friend who will make plans with me on where we will have our next crazy adventure but who knows maybe this one is the next great adventure only this time there are no plans.

Rejh, I pray for a safe trip and I will see you soon and I will definitely buy a webcam to prepare myself for Skype Nights with you guys. See you soon! :)

Sunny Sunday Shoot.

Sundays are best spent resting from all that stress, smog and hassles of work but in my case I'd rather spend my sunny Sunday with my friends out in the sun taking their photos than sitting in front of the computer and just surfing the internet sipping Coke and eating more.

Yesterday's weather was nice and sunny with a touch of cool breeze so I head out to UP Diliman with Rejh, Carvs and Yvesse to do a shoot. A week before the shoot I asked Rejh and Yvesse if they could dress up as hippies and showed them some pegs for the shoot which I don't normally do but then again showing pegs makes things easier since I already know the look that I want and the poses that they should do. Armed with my ever loving camera Canndice with a 50mm 1.8 we wander the lush green scenery of the campus taking one photo after another. After shooting in UP Diliman we head out to LaMesa Eco Park for a change of scene but to our demise there were a lot of families picnicking and the sun was covered with lots of clouds so the lighting was pretty difficult since what I want is to capture a sunny, nature loving people but then again I was able to capture really nice photos in some areas and there we rested for quite a bit and head out to eat at Mister Kebab in West Triangle then we went straight home.
