Aliwan 2011

Summer has officially started and the way I celebrate it is with a vivid bang!

Last April 16, 2011 the Aliwan 2011 Grand Parade was held at the Quirino Grandstand, hundreds of people photographers and the like rushed to the grandstand to take photos of the vivid, charming and energetic participants from the different provinces of the Philippines competes to see who's got the best fiesta (festival).
It was very hot that afternoon but nothing stopped the participants not even us photographers to get down and dirty (and sweaty) It was such a wonderful spectacle to see different provinces showcase their vibe, culture and their people. I myself was proud to see that my "kababayans" was also there to make a stand for our province and I was glad that they came up to 5th place this year.

Sadly I have to go home early since I have classes early the next day and I got my 2 memory cards filled with photos from the event, but I will definitely be back again there next year and be adequately prepared.

Cheers to the people behind this wonderful event and to the participants who endured the agonizing heat as they performed I bid them my congratulations both to the winners and to the non-winners.

Baby Portrait and other things

Its been quite a while since my last update, I'm still fine and dandy though gained a few pounds and eye-bags got wee bit bigger I guess. Man, I had a hard time making this wonderful baby smile after a few experimenting of things that will make him smile I finally got to make him show is cute gums and all through the use of a tissue talk about little simple happiness :)

Anyway today I got to shop again in Hidalgo courtesy of Mayer for a few gears that I needed for my thesis. So here they are:
Dicapac Waterproof SLR Case, LENS Pen Cleaning Cloth
and Generic Blower
Here's a test shot of the Dicapac Waterproof SLR Case:

And oh I will be heading to Romblon this coming Saturday to shoot for my thesis, I just hope for great blue skies and wonderful sunsets  :)

AB Dance Synergy Group

Last Sunday (June 27) we did a photo shoot for the AB Dance Synergy Group and it was my first time to do a photo shoot with a dance group. We did the shoot at P.Noval st. where there are lots of graffiti and (shame on them) pervs and onlookers.

[this is where we did the shoot, and oh boy the sun is not cooperating with us]

Here are some of my shots of the members portrait:

because they are a young, edgy and hip dance group
I asked them to do a "you've got served!", "in your face madafaker
pose and "I beat yah foo!" something like that.

Man I feel great doing a shoot with our client as well as shooting with my org-mates and learning their styles and some of their techniques on using strobes.

[for these 3 photos I placed my strobe 35 degrees or something like that and
put it on full power (have 2 sets of batteries for your strobe because using it in full power eats away the batt as fast as abrakadabra) while I underexposed my camera setting]

I will post the actions shots later on because I'm plain too lazy to edit them and upload it plus thesis should come first haha!

I was terribly late on my bro's belt promotion in Tae Kwon Do so I did what I'm good at to show support on him. A QUICK PHOTOSHOOOOT :)

Metrogate Outing

Last May 23 we got out of town and went to Metrogate in Silang the sun was nice and gentle so as the wind we had my Aunt's advance birthday celebration and a semi-reunion since our relatives from the north went there to fetch my cousin Rain. The pool was humongous but I hate to say it that the chlorine levels of the pool are terrible my eyes really hurt after swimming but still life must go on and taking photos of my cousins are my job because I was instructed by my Uncle to take them lots of wonderful photos. So here are the photos of my cousins playing around and loving the camera.

Food, Friends and Nephews

Summer vacation is fast approaching to it's end and as I work on this post I kinda love how the rain knocks to the windows of our house telling me that I should have bought a cheap umbrella yesterday for today's night out at my cousin.

Last May 21 (Friday) I was asked by a cousin of mine to do a shoot for their menu, take lots of photos of her wonderful kids so I tag Reg and Anton along and enjoyed the whole day because right after that day our friend Remi ran 42km for The Bull Runner marathon event. I thought we were late because Remi asked us to be there at the event at 3am sadly we woke up at 6am and had to rush to where the marathon took place but to our relief that 42km run takes at least 4-5 hours to finish it so basically we are a wee little bit late :) after a few minutes of shooting and seeing local celebrities our friend Remi got to the finish line, awarded with some medals and joined us, It was my first time to shoot in a marathon and I was really pumped because this kind of event is running high on emotion it's just a shame that I never had a long lens but oh well there are still other marathon events to look forward to :)

It was a great shooting experience to shoot for two straight days with different assignments.

My wonderful cousins!
